Wednesday at Learning Alive, our young explorers dove into the fascinating world of spiders! From spinning webs to spotting eight-legged creatures in their natural habitats, students spent the day finding, identifying, and experiencing spiders up close.

With curiosity as their compass, campers learned about spiders, their adaptations, and the important role they play in nature. Hands-on exploration brought science to life—proving once again that learning is always more exciting when it's alive!

At Lighthouse, the safety of our students, staff, and families is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a secure learning environment through continuous improvements in campus security. Here are the latest upgrades:

✅ New perimeter fencing around the parking lot to enhance access control
✅ Secured guard station at the interior perimeter fence for monitored entry
✅ All visitors must present a valid photo ID to enter through the interior perimeter gate
✅ Uniformed, armed security officers on campus from early morning until late evening
✅ 24-hour surveillance of all school premises—indoor and outdoor—including the parking lot
✅ Several new high-resolution cameras in the parking lot with advanced features that can zoom in on individuals and capture license plate details

These efforts are part of our ongoing commitment to student safety and campus protection. We thank our families and community for your continued partnership in maintaining a safe school environment.

Here are the school supply list for the 2025-2026 school year. There are numerous sales out there where you can save some money. Don't delay. because stores do run out of school supplies at the cheaper prices very quickly. If you purchased through 1st Day School Supplies.....YOU ARE DONE! Your child's school supplies are being delivered to the school in the first week of August just before school begins.

Learning fractions can be hard......but not when you are using PIZZA. What fun we had in truly understanding fractions while enjoying some pizza at Camp Innovate.

Science is ALIVE!
Camp Innovate 4th and 5th graders participated in a Strawberry DNA Extraction lab. This is an exciting lab focused on how to extract DNA from fruits. This activity is to stimulate thinking in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). What a fantastic opportunity to expand our learning and ability to innovate and create something new.
LPS is leading the way with student discovery and innovation.

During Camp Innovate, LPS rising 4th and 5th grade students had the opportunity to visit the DoSeum which is one of the top children's museums in the country. They were able to explore, interact, and innovate during the visit. They had the special opportunity to engage explore Emotions at Play with Disney's Inside Out exhibit.

During Camp Innovate the rising 4th and 5th grades had the opportunity visit San Antonio Central Library and participate in one of there many summer activities.

rising second grade class visited the Mitchell lake Audubon Center to extend their learning from their author study in The Tales Our Abuelitas Told Us, the students encounter many different birds of different colors. Today, they were able to learn more about birds and their habitats through this exciting field trip in the heard of a nature preserve!

Our rising Kindergarten students have been working hard on classifying items by different attributes and what better way to do that than through classifying different experiments. they have investigated sounds, intensity, size, shape, and movement through at least two experiments every day!
