rising second grade class visited the Mitchell lake Audubon Center to extend their learning from their author study in The Tales Our Abuelitas Told Us, the students encounter many different birds of different colors. Today, they were able to learn more about birds and their habitats through this exciting field trip in the heard of a nature preserve!

Our rising Kindergarten students have been working hard on classifying items by different attributes and what better way to do that than through classifying different experiments. they have investigated sounds, intensity, size, shape, and movement through at least two experiments every day!

Our High School students are hard at work in both English and Algebra I. They are solving problems left and right. Awesome Job HS.

We brought Dunkin Donuts free sample truck to campus for our middle and highs school students. Everyone received samples of their Strawberry Dragonfruit refresher and $5 gift cards for all their hard work this summer.

First grade is reading "Pigs make me Sneeze" by Mo Willems as part of their author study. This past week they decided to test out what would make them sneeze!

Second grade has been reading about camping trips all summer! This week they took a hike, set up a little campsite, and made smores using solar power!!!!!! Absolutely DEKICIOUS!

Third grade has been working on money, making change, products, and consumers! To help illustrate this, they transformed their classroom into a market space complete with their own products. Second and six grade had the opportunity to go and shop and give them the practice of a real life market!

First grade is studying farm animals as part of their author study of Mo Williams books! Tuesday, Owl Creek Farm visited our campus to give them a peek at farm life.

Parents should have received an email with your child/children's unique access codes. If you did not receive an email, it is because we didn't have one on file and the code was sent to your child's lighthouse email account.

Follow the steps below to access the test results:
1. Go to Texas Assessment Website
2. If not already on it, click on the student/families tab at the top of the page.
3. Scroll down until you see the "View Your Child's Test Results" and Family Portal Box on the right hand side.
4. Enter your unique access code and your child's other identifying information.

Your results should appear!

Option 1: Camp Innovate 2025 (Grades K–6)
🗓 June 9 – July 7, 2025 | 🕘 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM | 🍽 Free breakfast & lunch daily
📍 For students entering Kindergarten–6th grade in the 2025–2026 school year

Camp Innovate offers a fun and engaging summer experience focused on Math and English skill-building through hands-on activities, daily discovery sessions, and off-campus field trips! Students grow academically while exploring real-world connections and making lasting memories.

Eligibility Requirements:
Planning to return for 2025–2026
Entering K–6th grade in 2025–2026 (current PreK–5th grade students)
Commitment to full attendance: June 9 – July 7 (20 days total; July 4 holiday)

Option 2: Summer STAAR Support Program (Grades 7–12)
🗓 June 9 – June 20, 2025 | STAAR Retesting: June 23–27
📍 For current 6th–12th grade students (2024–2025 school year)

This traditional summer program supports middle and high school students who did not pass their STAAR English or Math exams (grades 6–8) or STAAR EOC exams (English I, English II, Algebra I). The program provides targeted instruction to prepare students for STAAR retesting.

We are sharing two powerful resources/ video presentations to help families support their children in building healthy relationships and staying safe. Lighthouse Public Schools proudly celebrates Mrs. Crystal Zavala and Mr. Alex Gonzales on their recent academic achievements!

On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Freeman Coliseum, Mrs. Crystal Zavala earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from Texas A&M University–San Antonio.

Also on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Freeman Coliseum, Mr. Alex Gonzales received his Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Development with a focus in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

LPS has been working with the Texas Department of Agriculture to complete a comprehensive audit of the child food and nutrition program. This audit review process has taken months of work and now that it is concluded, we received great news. Congratulations to our key food and nutrition staff members for work well done. We are so proud of your work and thank you for your time, commitment, and dedication.

HS students who will be attending LPS in the Summer or Fall of 2025 can begin the application and registration process for dual credit courses with McMurry University April 7th. The dual credit program provides opportunities for students to receive college credit in high school at no cost. LPS is excited to announce a new partnership with Savant Achievement Center in San Antonio to provide an opportunity for high school students to receive a nationally recognized State of Texas Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate. This is the newest offering that LPS is rolling out to meet the needs and interest of students in career readiness. Program runs on a monthly basis with continuing enrollment options.
